Hyundai Ioniq 9 EV now on sale in the UK

Hyundai Ioniq 9 UK

Hyundai revealed its largest electric car, the Ioniq 9 at the Los Angeles motor show in 2024 and it is the brand's most luxurious car to date. The Ioniq 9 shares a lot of its underpinnings with the Kia EV9, as both cars sit on the same E-GMP EV platform and are large seven seat EVs.

Prices in the UK start at £64,995 and this pitches it very closely to the Kia EV9, which is £65,985. The top of the line Calligraphy trim with six seats comes in at £78,595.

The Kia EV9 uses pretty large 99.8kWh batteries in every trim level, all using the 800V platform. Even though the Ioniq 9 and EV9 are closely related, the Hyundai actually has a larger pack, with 110.3kWh usable. Charging speed is rated at a max of 233kW DC and 10.5kW AC. Also, all models come with a heat pump as standard.

WLTP range is rated at 385 miles on the RWD option and drops to 372 miles on the most powerful AWD version.

Hyundai has three different motors to choose from, with 218PS, 307PS and 427PS. The less powerful version is RWD only and every other version is AWD.
