Porsche unveils the all new 911 GT3 RS, priced from £178,500 in the UK

Today, Porsche has unveiled the all new 911 GT3 RS for 2022. The new car is the first all new GT3 RS since 2018 and is the first to be based on the current 992 generation of the 911. Porsche has said this version is the “most track-focused” version they have ever made.

With the new GT3 RS, Porsche has fitted a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine, with 517bhp. This means the new car is capable of doing 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 184mph. All versions of the GT3 TRS come with a seven-speed PDK transmission, which has been tweaked to have shorter ratios than the standard 911.

Around the outside, Porsche has made the GT3 RS look a lot meaner, with a huge wing at the back and moving the radiator to the front of the car, which helps with downforce. In fact, this new car is capable of generating twice as much downforce as the outgoing model. That new location for the radiator sadly sacrifices the luggage compartment.

For the first time on a 911 GT3 RS, the new car has a drag reduction system (DRS). This is something the McLaren P1 had back in 2015 as well as the Mercedes-AMG GT. DRS allows the wing to lie flat which creates less drag and enables a higher top speed.

This new 911 GT3 RS costs a lot more than the outgoing car this time. It costs from £178,500 in the UK and once fitted with £25,739 Weissach pack, it goes over £200,000.

Porsche is taking orders for the all new 911 GT3 RS now and the first deliveries are expected to start in the first quarter of 2023.
