Apple releases iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 – fixes iPad mini 6 charging issue

Apple releases iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 – fixes iPad mini 6 charging issue

Apple has today released iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. This is now the sixth major update for both operating systems and will most likely be the last major release of iOS 15 before iOS 16 is released to the general public in September later this year.

Both iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 are available now by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Release Notes

“iOS 15.6 includes enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.

– TV app adds the option to restart a live sports game already in-progress and pause, rewind, or fast-forward
– Fixes an issue where Settings may continue to display that device storage is full even if it is available
– Fixes an issue that may cause braille devices to slow down or stop responding when navigating text in Mail
– Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may revert back to a previous page”

The release notes for iPadOS 15.6 are identical, but includes a fix for the iPad mini 6th generation charging issues. Apple says that this update fixes the iPad mini “not recognising USB-C chargers and accessories.”

This charging issue has been around since iOS 15.5 and has been heavily discussed on the MacRumors forums.
