Apple announces event for 18th October, likely to focus on new Macs

Apple has announced its second autumn media event for 2021, which is due to take place on Monday 18th October at 10am PT / 6pm BST. Apple’s last event was last month and we saw the launch of the iPhone 13, iPad mini 6th gen and Apple Watch Series 7. The autumn is usually a busy time for Apple in terms of new products and the company is due to unveil its new line of Apple Silicon based MacBooks.

The most likely product to be launched is the heavily rumoured MacBook Pro refresh, with a 14-inch replacing the current 13-inch and a new 16-inch model too. Rumours have suggested that these new models are going to be thinner, have smaller bezels and use the upcoming M1X chip, with up to 32GB RAM. Apple is also expected to return the days of MagSafe for charging and adding back things like HDMI and the SD card slot.

Also expected are new AirPods 3, a rumoured AirPods Pro look-a-like, but with less features, such as ANC.

Apple is also probably going to tell us more about macOS Monterey and when it will be available.

A&T Tech will be covering the event live on our @aandt_live.
