New models from Volvo are now limited to 112mph

Volvo has always been committed to vehicle safety, its crash tests and overall vehicle structure has been and is one of the company’s notable features and now to start another commitment to road safety, Volvo will now start limiting every new car to 112mph.

This isn’t a new announcement, Volvo announced this last year and cars have started to be limited from this year onwards. This limit isn’t set in stone, new Volvos will come with a ‘Care Key’ which will give control to the driver, which will give some additional control to what the top speed is.

Volvo is ahead of the curve with this one, from 2022 all new cars that are sold here in the UK must have some sort of ability to recognise traffic signs or use GPS to control and speed limiter. But this can be overridden by the driver.
