Microsoft is closing its retail stores worldwide as of today

To follow suit with other large retail stores such as Apple, Tommy Hilfiger and here in the UK – Carphone Warehouse, Microsoft has decided to shut all of its retail stores worldwide as of today. The action is to obviously help prevent the ongoing spread of the coronavirus. Microsoft had said the decision is to help protect the health and safety of its customers and employees.

“We are closing Microsoft Store locations to help protect the health and safety of our customers and employees. During this unprecedented time, the best way we can serve you is to do everything we can to help minimize the risk of the virus spreading.”

Microsoft has not yet provided a time frame for how long its stores will be shut for, but the company has said that its employees will continue to receive the usual pay for the time the stores are closed.
