Twitter is now offering Twitter Blue, its subscription service as a yearly option which if you are willing to fork out the money will be slightly cheaper than paying month-to-month. The new option was spotted earlier this week by The Verge and Twitter has all of the prices outlined in a new support article. Interestingly, the company is also tacking on the same £3/$3 increase for both iOS and Android customers, as both Apple and Google charges 30% on all in-app-purchases made, although the annual plan is only available on the web.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the annual plan only saves the equivalent of $1/£1 per month, adding up to $12/£12 in total. Twitter is offering the price discount here in the UK as well as the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Twitter Blue customers can subscribe on the web, iOS and Android although subscribing on the web will be cheaper than on the mobile platforms.

Twitter Blue offers users blue “verified” checkmark, higher ranking replies, 60-minute video uploads, the ability to edit and undo tweets, customise the app icon, themes and much more. Twitter is requiring that users have a valid phone number to sign up to make sure the account is owned by an actual genuine person.
