Nissan has today announced the all new Townstar small panel van, with both petrol and electric options available – but no diesel. The all electric version is replacing the e-NV200, that van shares the same platform and battery tech as the Leaf.

The Townstar is very similar in size to the Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo, both of which also have combustion and pure electric drivetrains.

The Townstar shares the same platform as the new Qashqai, and shares its engines. The petrol Townstar has a 1.3-litre engine, with 128bhp.

The all electric version has a 44kWh battery and a range of 177 miles. It can also charge from a 75kW DC rapid charger and go from 0-80% in 42 minutes.

Inside the van is a large 10-inch digital dash, and an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – as well as wireless phone charging.

Prices and a release date are yet to be announced.
