Today, along with the new iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini and new HomePod mini Apple also launched the brand new iPhone 12 Pro, which follows on from the outgoing iPhone 11 Pro with a triple lens camera array. The iPhone 12 Pro, like with the 11 Pro comes in two sizes, the standard 6.1-inch model which is now the same as the iPhone 12 and the larger iPhone 12 Pro Max at 6.7-inch.

In terms of the design, they do look pretty much the same as the iPhone 11 Pro models with the triple lens camera on the back, notch for the Face ID setup at the top, matte back and gloss surrounding the cameras. Like with the iPhone 12, the edges have been made flat to look like the iPhone 4 and the screen has also been pushed out to the edges to achieve a larger display in the same body.

For the display, Apple has used a new Ceramic Shield material which provides better drop protection. Like with the iPhone 12, we have the A14 chip, first seen in the new iPad Air last month which is the first 5-nanometer process for a chip in a smartphone.

On the back, we have three cameras; a Wide, Ultra Wide and a Telephoto. Both phones have 12MP sensors for all three cameras with a ƒ/2.4 aperture for the Ultra Wide, ƒ/1.6 on the Wide and on the Telephoto a ƒ/2.0 aperture on the iPhone 12 Pro and ƒ/2.2 on the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

On the back we also have a LiDAR sensor, which can scan the room and get a sense of whats in there which helps for faster focus and Night mode portraits are improved too.

Both iPhone 12 Pro models come in Silver, Gold, Graphite and a new Pacific Blue. iPhone 12 Pro starts at $999 / £999 for the 128GB model and $1099 / £1099 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Pre orders for the iPhone 12 Pro start this Friday, 16th October and will be available the following week on the 23rd October. The iPhone 12 Pro Max preorders start 6th November and will be available from 13th November.
