Aston Martin has launched a new convertible version of the Vantage

Aston Martin has launched a new convertible version of the Vantage

Aston Martin’s new Vantage was launched a few years ago, but has only been available in a coupé version till now. Yesterday, the new roadster version was announced and shares a lot of the comments from the coupé and Aston says, it has the same ““strong dynamic ability and sporting character with no compromise to feel or refinement” – which is hard to get right when the roof of a car is chopped off, but that remains to be seen.

Roadster

The new car is on sale now with deliveries arriving in Q2 2020, just in time for the summer. The roadster is £6,000 more expensive than the coupé version at £126,950.

It also has the same AMG V8 as the coupé with 503bhp. 0-60mph is dealt with in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 190mph. The removal of the roof has only added 60kg to the car, which has resulted in the 0-60 time being increased by 0.2 seconds and the top speed is 5mph less.

Aston Martin

Aston Martin is struggling at the moment financially. Back in early January the company reportedly canceled the foreseeable plans for the electric Rapide E. The car has “become a research project used to further Aston’s broader electrification programme.”

Aston has also had less demand for the Vantage here in Europe, so hopefully the roadster version of the helps boost demand for the company.
