Earlier this month, Apple revealed that the ad-supported stations on iTunes Radio wont be supported from the end of the month leaving Beats 1 to be the only free element of Apple Music. Well true to its word this week Apple has ended the free, ad-supported iTunes Radio. Users using Apple Music without an active subscription will now be prompted with a message stating – “Get on Our Wavelength” and the option to sign up to pay.

“Join Apple Music and get stations for every situation,” reads the message. “Plus, stream just about every song ever recorded, get handpicked recommendations, explore our experts’ take on the best new music.”

iTunes Radio was Apple’s original effort and move into music streaming, after this flopped partly because it wasn’t very good and was only available in the US and Australia Apple purchased Beats Electronics a year later and started to develop Apple Music.
