EE are getting into the hardware business, with its range of phones and tablets named after birds as well as the various MiFi devices it seems that with the latest move EE want a slice of the camera market. This move is a rather odd one for a phone carrier. The 4GEE Action Cam is a take at the offering from GoPro, but it offers something extra with live streaming over 4G, without the need for a smartphone.

Lights, Camera, Live!

In terms of video quality, the 4GEE Action Cam can broadcast over the EE network and is capable of recording 1080p video at 30fps, 720p at 30 or 60fps. The camera also features a still camera which can take images at 13MP, with a burst capture mode of 8fps. Live streaming over LTE however is limited to 720p at 30fps.

For live streaming, EE is using the squiggle app to store past streams as well as for users to watch live broadcasts. The 4GEE Action Cam has 2.5GB of internal storage and features a microSD slot for cards up to 64GB. The 2,260mAh battery will also last for around three hours of live streaming.

Accessories

Like GoPro, EE offer a number of accessories for the camera such as head mounts, chest straps and other accessories. With GoPro, if you require any cases those are available to buy as extras. The Action Cam has lightweight and waterproof cases included with the camera. Also included is a viewfinder for lining up and making sure the shot is correct when the camera can be accessed.

The Viewfinder is a watch which allows you to see the state of the shot from your wrist.
